The BAR Project (Balanced Automated Robot) - Episode 2
Playing around with the robot. Electronic components and first real life testing
2 Nalys engineers Michiel & Jonas, decided to build a complete Balanced Automated Robot from scratch. Based on Segway technology, the purpose is to design a robot capable of staying balanced with only 2 wheels. This internal project is a good occasion for them to learn new skills. It will be re-used for training sessions and presented to the Nalys Expertise Communities.
Here comes what we did lately on the BAR project:
- Select the appropriate material for the chassis
- Setting up the laser cutting machine to create our chassis
- Realisation of the first prototype (in wood)
- Confirmation of the basic control strategy based on the accelerometer measurements
- Preparation of a PCB prototype to interface all electrical components
- Assembly of the first prototype with mechanical and electrical components and check the basic functionalities
- And first real life tests
